ERCB Announces a new Data Integrity Program

The Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) is announcing its Data Integrity Program aimed at improving the accuracy of data being collected and ensuring the continued integrity of its data processes. The Data Integrity Program incorporates new technologies and new applications to improve data accuracy and integrity.

The Data Integrity Program is a key component of the ERCB’s Information Technology Business Solutions priorities.  The Program is focused on identifying and transitioning to new strategic technologies. This includes:

  • Continuing to develop processes to ensure the ERCB delivers timely, useful, easily accessible, relevant, and high-quality information and data; and
  • Ensuring a current and effective information technology environment that provides the organization with the infrastructure, tools, and solutions necessary to deliver excellent results.

The program’s first significant initiative will focus on enhancing the accuracy of well surface and bottomhole location data and will include consultation with industry stakeholders and other users of the data. The ERCB recognizes there are potential impacts to industry. It is critical that well licensees review any changes in their data.

The ERCB is also identifying and prioritizing additional data improvements as part of the Data Integrity Program and will inform stakeholders as work progresses.
Information collection and dissemination is a legislated responsibility that the ERCB is committed to providing accurate, reliable and quality service to for all its stakeholders.
