Calgary, Alberta (Jul 20, 2011)… The Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) is responding to a Pembina Pipelines Corporation crude-oil pipeline release that occurred Tuesday. The location of the pipeline release is approximately five kilometres north of Swan Hills.
Pembina Pipelines has estimated the release at 1,300 barrels of crude oil which has leaked into the pipeline right of way and a nearby unnamed creek. The ERCB is working with the operator to confirm spill volumes.
The pipeline has been shut in and the company has commenced containment and clean up operations.
The ERCB is on site and will continue to work with the company and other agencies to ensure all appropriate containment, clean up and mitigation measures are underway.
