Calgary, Alberta (Dec 17, 2011)… The Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) is on the scene of a pipeline release that occurred on Thursday, December 15 at a Pengrowth Energy pipeline.
The incident occurred about 40 kilometres south of Swan Hills, Alberta.
The company has reported that approximately 12,000 barrels of product containing 98.5 per cent water and 1.5 per cent oil has been released from the four inch pipeline. The ERCB has not confirmed the volumes as this time. The pipeline has been shut in and depressurized.
Cleanup is underway with all appropriate equipment and personnel presently on scene. There are no confirmed wildlife impacts to date.
There were no injuries and no direct public impact as a result of the pipeline release.
All appropriate agencies have been notified.
