On April 29, 2014, the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) issued a notice of hearing on Applications No. 1771853, et al. The notice of hearing indicated that the hearing would start June 9, 2014, in Athabasca, Alberta. Subsequently, the AER issued a notice of postponement of hearing on June 2, 2014, indicating that the start date and location would be announced at a later date. The AER opened the hearing on June 23, 2014, and adjourned the hearing on June 25, 2014. This notice announces that the AER will resume the public hearing at the Lister Conference Centre, University of Alberta, 116 Street and 87 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta, starting on Monday, July 14, 2014, at 9:00 a.m.
Description of Project
Grand Rapids Pipeline GP Ltd. (Grand Rapids) has applied under the Pipeline Act, the Public Lands Act, and the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act for approval to construct and operate the Grand Rapids Pipeline Project (see figure 1). The proposed project consists of two main lines, two periphery lines, four pump stations, and three tank farms. The project would transport bitumen blend from the Grand Rapids McKay Terminal at Legal Subdivision (LSD) 6 of Section 34, Township 89, Range 14, West of the 4th Meridian, to a meter station in the Edmonton area at LSD 15-32-052-23W4M. The capacity of the 508 millimetre (mm) main line would be 52 470 cubic metres per day (m3/d) (330 000 barrels per day [bbl/d]). The capacity of the 914 mm main line would be 143 090 m3/d (900 000 bbl/d). The total maximum petroleum storage capacity would be 240 000 m3/d (1 500 000 bbl/d).
