Description of the Proceeding
On January 28, 2015, the AER issued a notice of intention to issue a declaration under section 106(1) of the Oil and Gas Conservation Act (OGCA) naming Bryce Lee Karl as a person who was directly or indirectly in control of three companies that contravened or failed to comply with AER orders. If the AER issues the declaration, the AER may suspend operations of, refuse to consider any applications from, or require the payment of abandonment and reclamation deposits from Mr. Karl and any companies directly or indirectly controlled by Mr. Karl in accordance with section 106(3) of the OGCA.
Mr. Karl filed a submission dated March 17, 2015, in response to the notice. The AER considered the submission and has decided to hold a hearing to permit Mr. Karl to show cause as to why a declaration naming him should not be issued pursuant to section 106 of the OGCA.
The Liability Management Group of the AER is a party to this proceeding.
