Changes to the Hydraulic Fracturing Notification Submission Procedure

Nov 26, 2014

The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) is changing the hydraulic fracturing notification submission procedure to help it to more efficiently and effectively monitor hydraulic fracturing activity. Under Directive 083: Hydraulic Fracturing – Subsurface Integrity, industry is required to submit the hydraulic fracturing notification submission form (the form) at least five days before the pressure test of surface equipment for hydraulic fracturing operations.

Effective December 3, 2014, industry licensees are expected to do the following:

  • Use the modified form (Excel spreadsheet) because the questions to be answered have changed.
  • Submit the form to the appropriate AER field centre.

The modified procedure, field centre e-mail addresses, and modified form will be posted to the Directive 083 page on the AER website, www.aer.ca, before the effective date above. Industry licensees may use the new process in advance of the effective date if they wish. If you have questions, e-mail inquiries@aer.ca or call the Customer Contact Centre at 1-855-297-8311.
