Electronic Submission of Short-Term Gas Removal Applications and Discontinuation of Publication ST48: Alberta Gas Removal and Related Applications Monthly Edition

Mar 14, 2012

Since 2010, the Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) has required electronic submission of all resources applications related to Directive 065: Resources Applications for Oil and Gas Reservoirs.

To improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the existing application process, the ERCB is implementing an online application form for short-term gas removal applications effective March 14, 2012. The online application form includes built-in validation to make it easier to complete the application and ensure that the correct information is provided. Use of the online form is mandatory. There are no changes to the current process for long-term gas removal applications or short-term ethane removal applications.

This bulletin announces the release of a revised edition of Directive 065, effective March 14, 2012, that reflects the changes to the short-term gas removal application process and incorporates the gas removal reporting requirements originally contained in Bulletin 2006-42: Gas Removal Data System Compliance Process, which is hereby rescinded. Additional amendments to the revised directive are summarized in Bulletin 2012-04 and Bulletin 2012-06.

This bulletin also announces the discontinuation of the publication ST48: Alberta Gas Removal and Related Applications Monthly Edition, effective April 1, 2012. ST48 listed active and recently terminated gas and ethane removal permits on a monthly basis. Permit information is available on the ERCB website www.ercb.ca through the Integrated Application Registry (IAR) Query for a period of 30 days after the permit is issued. Historical information on gas and ethane removal permits will continue to be available through ERCB Information Services upon request.

The March edition of Directive 065 is available on the ERCB website www.ercb.ca under Industry Zone : Rules, Regulations, and Requirements : Directives. Printed copies of the directive may be purchased from ERCB Information Services, 10 Floor, 250 – 5 Street SW, Calgary, Alberta; telephone: 403-297-8311 or 1-855-297-8311 (toll free); fax: 403-297-7040; e-mail: infoservices@ercb.ca.
