Ongoing Regulatory Document Review: Rescission of Directive 048 and Informational Letter 94-02

May 26, 2015

The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) continues to improve its rules, requirements, and processes to ensure the safe, efficient, orderly and environmentally responsible development of hydrocarbon resources and has completed a review of Informational Letter (IL) 94-02: Injection and Disposal Wells and Directive 048: Monthly Custom Treating Plant Statement.

The AER has concluded that the information and requirements contained in these instruments are included in other AER regulatory instruments. For that reason, IL 94-02 and Directive 048 are duplicative and unnecessary. Therefore, effective immediately, the AER has rescinded both instruments for the following reasons:

Rescission of these instruments will not adversely impact the AER mandates of public safety, environmental protection, and orderly development.
