Calgary, Alberta (Jul 19, 2011)… The Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) is responding to a Penn West Energy pipeline release that occurred on Monday, July 18, 2011, about 70 kilometres northeast of Peace River.
The pipeline release has resulted in an unconfirmed volume of produced water leaking into stagnant water nearby.
The pipeline has been shut in and clean up has begun. The ERCB is on site and will continue to work with the company and other agencies to ensure all appropriate clean up and mitigation measures are taking place.
There were no injuries and no direct public impact as a result of the produced water pipeline release.
All appropriate agencies have been notified.
