Monica Norminton is the chief financial officer and general counsel for a private family trust, where she is the legal and financial advisor and manager. She is also currently a board member for Waste ReSolutions, and the Audit Committees for the Department of Natural Resources Canada and the Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
Ms. Norminton has previously held various executive positions, including chief executive officer and president of Alberta Pension Services, assistant deputy minister of Alberta Environment’s Corporate Services, and chief administration officer for the Office of the Auditor General of Alberta. She has worked extensively in senior roles for both government and the private sector throughout her career.
Ms. Norminton brings strategic planning and leadership skills, a strong understanding of board governance, and experience in managing risk, developing and implementing policy, performance measurement and evaluation, and information technology. She values stakeholder engagement when solving problems in dynamic and complex environments.
Ms. Norminton’s expertise includes a law degree and masters of business administration (MBA) from the University of Alberta and a chartered accountant designation with specialization in information technology. In 2009, she was recognized for her capabilities and accomplishments in the legal and professional community through the Queen’s Counsel (QC) designation. She has been involved in her community as a mentor and guest speaker at the University of Alberta MBA Program and the Women’s Executive Network
