To help potential candidates prepare for our recruitment process, we have outlined the typical steps involved.

We thank all applicants for their interest in working at the AER. If you have questions about the recruitment process, contact us at peopleservices@aer.ca.
Step 1: How to apply
Create your career profile and apply online
If you have found an ideal role, create an account in Workday through the sign-in page. Once complete, you can apply online for positions.
All applications must be submitted through Workday.
Please upload your resumé, complete the application, and click submit. You will receive an email confirmation for each application.
Are you having trouble with your Workday profile or submitting your application? Check out the frequently asked questions.
Step 2: Application screening
Resumé review
We will review your resumé. We might call or email you for a pre-screening assessment.
We receive many applications and will only contact those moving on to the next step of the recruitment process.
Unsuccessful applicants
We will inform all unsuccessful applicants of the competition outcome via a Workday notification. If you are not selected, please continue to review our current opportunities on our careers site and apply to future openings.
Step 3: Interviews
If your skills match a job we are recruiting for and you are selected for an interview, we will contact you. Depending on the location and type of role, interviews may be in person or online video. The you may be asked to complete a skills assessment before, during, or after your interview.
The interview will include technical, situational, and behavioural questions that you will answer using the STARR format.
If you need an accommodation during any stage of the recruitment process, please email peopleservices@aer.ca. Our team will review your request and respond as soon as we are able.
Step 4: Offer and onboarding
Offer
If you are a successful candidate, you will receive a verbal offer of employment followed by a formal written offer. If you wish to accept the offer, you must accept it in your Workday account. All offers are conditional upon the successful completion of pre-employment conditions.
Preemployment conditions
Once you have accepted your offer, we will contact you to complete any required preemployment checks and education verification. We may require a medical clearance, a driver’s abstract, or both for safety-sensitive positions. For security-sensitive positions, criminal and credit background checks may also be necessary. We will notify you once this process is complete.
New employee onboarding
Welcome to the AER! To help you settle in, we use a phased onboarding approach to ensure new employees get the right information at the right time.
You will participate in new hire and safety orientations, plus online and in-person training. Of course, you will also receive support from your leader and new colleagues to help you learn your new role.
Beware of recruitment fraud
Please note that the AER will never request money from job seekers or personal information beyond that required for a resumé. We do not offer employment through social apps like WhatsApp, Facebook, or WeChat.
All legitimate job offers are through our formal recruitment process, and our email addresses end in @aer.ca.
If you believe you have been a victim of fraud, contact your local authorities and report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
