Today, we released Manual 028: Buried Geothermal Heat Distribution Pipelines, Best Practices for Planning, Design, Operation, and Closure.
A geothermal heat distribution pipeline connects the end user to the heat source (heating plant). The manual provides best practices that can be applied throughout the life cycle of a geothermal heat distribution pipeline, focussing on environmental protection and public safety. The manual enables innovation while ensuring responsible development.
Manual 028 forms part of the geothermal regulatory framework. A reference to the manual will be added to Directive 089: Geothermal Resource Development. Manual 028 is available on our website www.aer.ca.
