Primrose and Wolf Lake In Situ Oil Sands Project

The  Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) has received Oil  Sands Conservation Act (OSCA)application 1933137 and Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act (EPEA) application 031-11115 from  Canadian Natural Resources Limited. The  AER is reviewing the applications.

This  notice also sets out the deadline for filing statements of concern on both of  the applications. See the section below on how to file a statement of concern  and for the filing deadline.

Description of the Applications

Canadian Natural Resources  Limited has applied under OSCA and EPEA to waive the requirements of  ID2001-03 for Q3 2021 and to temporarily increase the daily sulphur dioxide (SO2)  emissions limit of the Primrose North Satellite Steam Plant from 2.0 t/d to 3.8  t/d while they are performing pipeline maintenance/replacement. During this time,  the corresponding SO2 emissions will decrease from the Primrose and  Wolf Lake facilities; therefore, the overall project wide SO2  emissions will remain unchanged.
