The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) has worked with the Government of Alberta to establish a Production Curtailment Issues Panel. The panel will consider written submissions from potentially impacted operators regarding unintended consequences that result from production curtailment rules.
The panel chair is Stacey Schorr, Executive Vice President of Stakeholder and Government Engagement at the Alberta Energy Regulator.
The panel members include:
- Mark Taylor, Executive Vice President, Operations, Alberta Energy Regulator
- Mike Ekelund, Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, Energy Diversification, Alberta Energy
- Lorne Cannon, former energy industry executive
- Grant Bishop, Associate Director of Research, C.D. Howe Institute
The panel will work with the Explorers and Producers Association of Canada and the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers to funnel submissions relating to unintended consequences of the curtailment policy from their members and accept written submissions from non-members. Submissions can be sent to curtailment@aer.ca.
The panel will report to the AER’s president and CEO who will provide advice to the Deputy Minister of Energy.
