Release Date: Aug 03, 1979

Alberta Environment and the Board jointly issued Informational Letter IL-OG 76-24 in order to encourage reduction of sulphur plant stack exit temperatures for the purpose of energy conservation.

Appendix I of the document provided for a trial period during which new criteria were established for determining the occurrence of a reportable low temperature.

Alberta Environment and the Board are satisfied that the successful completion of the trial indicates the use of these criteria should be continued. Therefore, operators will not be required to report low stack exit temperatures which deviate from those specified in the Alberta Environment Licence and the Board Approval by less than 15oC for less than 15 minutes.
