Welcome to Refreshed AER and AGS Websites

After months of gathering feedback from Albertans, planning, and updating, new and improved versions of the AER and AGS websites are now live!

Before you start clicking through the sites, here are the most important changes and improvements.

First stop is aer.ca, your central access point for reliable information about Alberta’s energy industry. It’s also a one-stop-shop for news, announcements, notices, and compliance information; a place to learn about how we regulate the energy industry; and a tool for industry to submit applications and performance data.

See how you can better find what you’re looking for:

Second stop is ags.aer.ca. The Alberta Geological Survey is the province’s geoscience expert, and this website holds a wealth of important information, including research reports, maps, interactive products and tools, and more.

Our journey to improve data access for all

The sites feature improvements in two key areas:

  • A better user experience with a modern look and feel that’s responsive for tablets and mobile devices.
  • Find the information you need in fewer clicks through a reorganized site structure and new elements that provide quicker access to popular pages, apps, and tools.

Over the next few months, we will continue improving the search functionality on both websites. This includes incorporating new data sources, such as OneStop, Public Notice of Applications, the Publication of Decision tool, the Products and Services Catalogue, and more. These enhancements aim to make search more relevant, with added features like filtering by keyword, location, document type, date, and more. We anticipate completing this work by the end of March 2025.
