The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) has received Water Act Application No. 003-00466043, and Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act (EPEA) Application No. 061-00000026, from Syncrude Canada Limited (Syncrude).  The AER is reviewing the applications together with the supporting documents.

Description of the Applications
Syncrude has applied under the Water Act and EPEA to optimize the outfall location from the Dover River to Stream F1. The proposed optimization referred to as the Stream F1 Channel and Outfall will result in about 15 hectares less of land disturbance. Stream F1 Channel and outfall will follow the same alignment as the previously approved Dover River Channel and Outfall but will discharge at the Stream F1 instead of the Dover River.

The project is located about 35 kilometres (km) north of the city of Fort McMurray and 15 km south of the hamlet of Fort MacKay.
