This statistical report shows historical estimates of coal reserves in Alberta. It shows established initial coal resources, and remaining reserves as of December 31, 1999. Alberta coals are grouped into mountain, foothills, and plains regions based on coal rank, geology, and topography.

Estimates of coal resources in this report are based on drillhole logs (geophysical, core, and descriptive) that companies and government were required to submit under provisions of the Coal Conservation Act.
